  • Community college credits often transfer to universities, however, they may not always align with the degree plan students choose at the university level. Some credits may transfer over as electives if they are not part of the degree plan, meaning the student would still need to take and complete core or major-related courses to follow the plan.

  • Transferring from community college to a university involves many steps, including meeting with academic advisors, understanding credit transfer policies, and applying to the selected university. There are specific requirements and deadlines for transfer applications. It is important you are aware of all the steps needed at your university.

  • Most academic institutions accept transfer credits, though they differ in how they are accepted. Depending on your chosen bachelor’s degree plan, the credits you transfer in may or may not align. You should connect with advisors at both the community college level and the university level to ensure alignment.

  • Academic advisors from all institutions can help you with your transfer process. Keep in mind, you may be assigned an academic advisor from the institution you are enrolled in, and should plan your degree mapping with that advisor.

  • To transfer credits from Dallas College, you will need to meet with your Dallas College advisor. Discuss your move to your selected university and your new degree path. You will then need to apply to your university and submit all official transcripts.

  • Our new Meta Majors program makes degree planning much easier with simplified transfer pathways. In each of these high demand fields, we take the guesswork out of selecting your courses at community college, while giving you many choices of related majors that you can transfer into at participating universities.
